Just received and installed Suntour NCX12 seat post to my Freego Eagle. Been a short test ride and wow what a difference. Like riding on a sofa. Seems to absorb all the bumps.

Only downside is that on Freego the seat hinges back to remove battery but can't do that with new post. Not a problem. A small price to pay

Is your seatpost securing tube tightened by an allen key or a clamp? The clamp makes life a bit easier when you have to take it out frequently.

I agree enitirely. I have the Thudbuster LT on my Ezee Forza and it has transformed the ride quality. As you say what you loose in convenience (from the loss of the flip up seat mechanism) you gain back and more from the improved comfort. I have quick release on the seat post and I've now mastered the art of pulling up the seat post and installing or removing the battery in one one swift movement. It's a shame they can't make a flip up seat which can be mounted on any seat post but hey you can't have everything!

It's worth mentioning that I originally had the ST version of the Thudbuster which provides nowhere near as much comfort. In fact I could barely feel any difference in ride quality with the ST. The LT by contrast really helps to smooth out the bumps and has the added benefit of raising the seat to the ideal height for me. This is important as they don't make the Thudbuster in the same size as the stock seatpost so I had to use a seat post shim. As a result of this the seat post always manages to slide downwards when I'm riding. Having the seatpost fully inserted removes this problem and it's a whole lot easier to reinstate the saddle to the correct hieght when installing or removing the battery if all you have to do is insert it fully into the seat post tube.

On my regular hybrid bike I had the reverse problem, the LT made the saddle too high even when fully inserted into the seat post tube so I had to swap it out for the smaller ST model instead. The ST doesn't provide anywhere near as much comfort, in fact reading your post has me thinking that I might do well to swap it out for an Suntour NCX12.

It's a clamp so no real problem. Don't need to take battery out for charging so just occasionally for cleaning

Yes I agree. I don't tend to leave my bike unattended for very long but when I do I have started putting a cable lock (kryptonite) through the seat and top of the battery. Should stop the opportunist, hopefully
