its looking like a normal bicycle, but the rack on the rear sie is a lot longer, the bike is longer

so on the rack 1-2 childs can sit there..
the bike is very robust for heavy loads

and there is a electric version..

i thought the name was "stokemonkey" but i don´t find anything about it..
thx.

There's an attachment called the Xtracycle which lengthens a normal bike and provides what you want. There's also a special motor made for it, and it's that which is called the Stokemonkey.

Unfortunately the Stokemonkey sales are on hold at the moment since they can't cope with the levels of business.

Does a longer wheelbase really make a bike nicer to ride, or is that just hype?

If its true, then are long wheelbase frames readily available?

There's a couple of long bikes posted about recently in here Nick, I'm hoping one of those who did the postings will contribute here to add to the information for kraeuterbutter.

I find a long wheelbase very stable, but they do tend have a slow steering feel about them, distinctly unsporty. One would be tricky where I am due to some very tight right angle turns on cyclepaths with railings and street furniture leaving barely enough space for normal bikes.

also this same thread occurs over and over again on any bike forum.

There are a lot of people looking for this bike. They can of course be seen on the street in Holland (unknown dutch brand) at anytime.

The i think there are 3 newcomers to the market who are all swamped with demand. There are the 2 links already here and also a third who's name eludes me, (i know they made the bike as a charity project for africa , but they got swamped for demand by europeans).

Thanks guys,

Well, you can see the attraction, as it gives a useful space for putting the battery, and this seems to be the way most production ebikes are made.

I suppose you could take a standard frame and the welding gear. Or you could get a similar effect by putting a 20 or 26" wheel in a 28" or 700c frame.

I've done some measurements previously and a 24" wheel in a 700c frame in many cases leaves battery room, and 24" isn't too bad a compromise on the road with quite a good range of tyres available.

I found this on Ebay last week. I just managed to squeeze it into the Punto hatchback to bring it home. It is 2m long. See the attached photo.

The S7 hub gear had a broken cable and the click box had been removed. As a temporary bodge I have put in another back wheel with some gears and a rear mech. I still have hopes for the S7 hub, if I can figure out how it goes together.

The bike rides amazingly well and feels light to pedal. Maybe it would be different if loaded up to its maximum 50 kg on the front plus 25 kg on the back.

Two child seats can be added. The front seat can face forwards or backwards. Special seats from the factory in Germany could be expensive I guess, but I don't have any plans to fit child seats. These sites show the seats.

This seems to be the manufacturer's site:

All great fun so far, and the big plastic box I have screwed down on the front rack makes it very effective for shopping trips.
