My honest advice is not to do it. Sell that bike, then either buy a ready-made ebike that suits your needs or buy an older bike with a metal frame to convert to how you want it.

Without knowing what you want and what you want to use it for, it's not possible give any more specific advice.

Assuming it is, you can keep it lightweight.
Fit an Aikema 85SX rear hub and a G30 bottle battery instead of an HL battery.

The G30 is anodized black.
You can't fit a downtube battery to a carbon fibre frame, as Kudos found out.

He can fit a rear motor if he has a metal rear subframe, though I can see two problems. Firstly, the subframe top bearings look very vulnerable to any attempt to stretch the frame to get a cassette motor in, depending on how strong the bracing is there, and secondly, the additional unsprung mass will compromise the rear suspension.

the G30 (30 cells) weighs only 1.5kgs, the G20 (20 cells) weighs even less.
Not much more than the water bottles and I use the existing water bottle bolts.

he will have to check the rear dropout but from some google pictures, it looks like regular 135mm dropout.
The rear motorwheel will add about 1.9kg unsprung mass but I am pretty sure that it won't affect the rear spring air pressure, it's 2kg compared to 60% of the rider's own weight.

Here's how to work it out if you're any good at Laplace transforms:

yes that's the bike full carbon frame with aluminium rear sub frame
How is it full carbon when it has a metal rear subframe and forks? It should be called Scott Genius mc20 slightly carbon. What exactly is carbon on it? Is it just the triangle and not even the BB?

If the bottom bracket is a standard Shimano/BSA type, you might be able to fit a crank-drive motor, like a BBS01. It depends what the arrangement is around the BB. Then you could put the battery in a triangle bag.

Can you take off the crank-set and show us the BB?

his bike has an XTR 93mm bottom bracket, BBS01 won't fit.

The spec for the BB is XTR BB93, which comes in 68mm or 73mm, which implies that the 93 is a version number, not the length. What do you think?

That's why I said to take the crank-set off, so that we can see what he has.

My mistake. I agree.
