Whats the best saddle to get for comfort? Given the state of the roads around here and a rigid fork hybrid bike I'm taking a bit of a pounding in the posterior!

My local bike shop steered me away from a suspension seat post and towards a Bioflex like comfort seat, so I'm a bit confused as what to get...any advise greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I find the same with suspension seatposts, they just don't work for me, they are usually at the wrong angle to slide freely and their springs are too strong for lighter people.

Thanks for the replies...a seat post is out any way I think....just measured mine and the diameter is 23.5mm.

The R2 looks very interesting, Pete/Jake is it good at absorbing bumps?

saddle

yes it does help with the bumps but i suppose at the end of the day what suits one does not suit another all i know is that before i used this saddle i used to get a lot of pain in the nether regions if you know what i mean but since changing to this none

Yes deals with the bumps but I agree with Jakeboy it is a very personal thing, it is just a matter of finding what is right for you. The trouble is that with a saddle you only really know when you have ridden it a few times and they are not cheap items. The only general advice I can give is that the ones that feel soft in your hands, like gel filled, are generally thought to be the worst and I would agree. The Rido is quite firm and I don't really know why but it is just good for me, and seemingly lots of others. The other route is to invest in a Brookes leather saddle, beautiful things and need to be worn in but some swear by them, even though they feel as hard as rocks. Almost worth the price just to look at!
