I have been using my overvolted bike for 6 months using S06S controller and it starts having a little problem.

My setup is 14S1P lifepo4 basically using 1 pc 36v 12ah battery pluse 2S1P 12Ah headway cells. Total around 46.7v fully charged

I use it normally at mode 3 so the controller draws around 10A max all the time.

When I pedal/throttle, the controller cuts the problem to the motor and I need to stop pedalling or restart the controller to make it work again.

Funny thing is when I use the 36v 12ah battery alone, the problem is gone.

The only thing I could think of is the controller capacity is dying that makes the overvolted setup unstable.

Any thoughts?

When I upgraded my MXUS conversion on my Giant Trance mountain bike, I wanted to increase the battery from 36 to 48v and shift from square wave to sinewave.

The BMS S06S was only rated at 36v max, whereas the S12S was dual 36 or 48v, and it was only about £10 more.

I used a dremel grinder to reduce the cross section of the shunt from 25 amps down to about 17, because Dave advised that would be a safer maximum for the MXUS cassette motor.

I was tempted to buy the SO6S instead, because of the slightly smaller case size, but the 36v limit did worry me.

The knobbled S12S runs just warm, even after a 30 mile run, and enclosed inside the pannier bag for stealth.

Check all your connections and solder joints. I don't believe that it's a controller problem. It's easy to get a dry joint on Deans connectors that hold the wire, but won't transmit any current.

Thanks. This is one of the plans for me. How do check the max amp output? applying the brake with full power?

D8veh,

I thought that too but I am using Anderson connector(solded and crimpled). The connections are so strong I cant even pull them apart easily. I have made another cable to test and the problem is still exist.

On top of that, I use this battery setup 47.6v for S06P controller. No problem at all. That is why I nail it down to this S06S controller.

Yes, and I have one of those cheap King wattmeters permanently wired into the battery and controller sub-assembly that fits in my pannier bag.
