Hi,

I wanted to ask, if anyone knows when roodog explorer electric bike was made and if throttle which runs the bike to 15.5mph by itself is allowed by law in a roodog explorer electric bike? The bike has motor output of 250 watts, 36 volt and 15ah battery

Many thanks

The Explorer was on sale in 2014/5 but seemed to disappear later as other models like the Avatar and Bliss were introduced by Roodog.

Being sold prior to 1st January 2016, the fully acting throttle is legal since the bike has "Grandfather Rights" to remain unchanged.

Many thanks, just want to ask final question. The bike has a new thumb throttle fitted and the old twist and go throttle was removed and also the original battery was 9ah which has been changed to new battery of 15ah. So is the bike still legal to ride?

Yes, it's only the age of the pedelec which counts, keeping grandfather rights. Wearing parts like a throttle can be replaced and batteries are consumables which have to be changed from time to time anyway. The battery capacity doesn't alter the performance, only the range.
