Finding my (electric) wheels

HI, My bike goes just fine as I've fitted a new front wheel drive kit to it. The problem is stopping. Its got a rear wheel Shimano
Nexave BR-IM50-R roller brake fitted to it.
I would buy a new unit or the necessary spares but cant find a supplier apart from second hand units. Any suggestions would
be appreciated

Many Thanks
Bob D

If you show a picture of the bike it will be easier to suggest sensible options.

Do you actually like the roller brake if it worked right? I hate them, but I know some people thing they are great. They don't tend to work that well; it may be that the added speed from the electric is effectively too much for the brake? That depends how you use the electric: to rush around or just to go at the same old speed as before, but with less effort. Most bikes sold with roller brakes are expected to go pretty slowly.

They're useless when they wear. Most advice I've seen says replace them when they start losing power.

They're not really good enough for an ebike, so I'd consider moving your kit to a bike with disc brakes unless your frame has the lugs for one.

As above, power can change one moment to the next and worn they're no good. Servicing is hit or miss too.

With hydraulic disc brakes being quite cheap these days, I'd stick to those as power is there, and are pretty much a fit and forget.

As long as you dont get cable operated, which are just pants.
