Rim width and tyre width, also which tyre?

The rear tyre on my Tonaro Esprit has split along the rim, so I need a replacement.
The rim is only 20 mm wide is a 2" tyre acceptable or stick to narrower, the original was 1.75?
I am looking at replacing both tyres as they are the same age and at the moment am looking at Schwalbe Kojak or Kenda Small Block 8, I pretty much only ride on road currently and thought the slicks might make the motors life easier?
Any thoughts?

You'll e OK with tyres up to 2.1".

If you want good rolling for the road, Schwale City Jets are hard to beat. They come in 1.75 and 1.95". I use 1.95 on my 19mm rims.

A 2" tyre with work on your rim. As your bike was originally equipped with 1.75, you my need to look at frame clearance when considering a wider tyre. A 26×2.00" Schwalbe Marathon or Marathon plus would be a good replacement. The Schwalbe Energizer is a 1.75 specifically designed for ebikes is also worth considering.

Looks like we are all singing the same song:)
I've just put a pr of Schwalbe Smart Sam plus 2.1" on 700c x 19 rims.
They work a charm with no performance issues but the frame/fork clearance is down to 1/2" (12mm) around the tyres.
Another unexpected bonus;) They roll as well as the city tyres I've just taken off :p

Thanks all, a lot of research later a pair of Schwalbe Land Cruisers 1.95's are headed my way, reviews suggest they are fast on road and surprisingly competent off road if I feel the urge :) and very tough.
I have fitted a 1.95 tyre (a cheapy spare I had) to replace the damaged one and it fits ok clearance wise.
