The rim looks to have cracked at the join... which means its a cheap one, that is pinned and not welded. So the BMX one you've linked to would have failed in exactly the same way.

So look for a welded one if you want it to last longer.

Assuming you get the right number of holes, and the depth of the internal of the rim isn't too different, so yes you can just swap the rim over. Tape the new rim to the wheel at a couple of points, making sure the valve hole is in the same place and just swap the spokes over one by one to ensure you keep the pattern the same.

Dead easy.. its just tensioning it and making sure its true that take a bit of practice, but everyone has to have a first go.

From the photos, the damage is more than normal wear, tear or fatigue, it must have taken a considerable impact to distort the rim like that.

With pinned rims, that sort of failure if quite normal... especially with the weight of the bike. Its why good rims are welded, to prevent it happening.

It doesn't take a huge knock to make that happen, its just a one in 36 chance of a pothole, or kerb hitting the rim at that point and if it does this is the result.

Welded rims will be much better for this purpose.

Why unicycle rims are better than bmx ones?

Ideally I'd like quite a wide rim to potentially fit a moped tyre on it:
http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&cart_id=4115897.110.10824&Breite=2.25&Quer=&Felge=16&Speed=&kategorie=&Marke=Shinko&ranzahl=&tyre_for=&x_tyre_for=&Herst=Shinko&rsmFahrzeugart=MO&details=Ordern&typ=R-130870

And maybe also change all the nipples as I round them. Wonder where to get some good quality ones that would fit too?

Because they have to be stronger. One wheel takes all the weight not two.

We have the 36h
I'd prefer to buy the best but I'm happy to buy from you if you can get all sorted.

Would the rim fit the moped tyre mentioned?

Could you also provide some nipples for my spokes and maybe even a good nipple tool so that I stop rounding them?

The tyre you are looking at is 16" so it's not going to fit a 20" rim.
We would just supply the rim as nipples and spoke tools are readily available elsewhere.

I understood from member in endlesssphere that 16" moped tyre may fit 20" bicycle rim but I'll double check. I think I'll go for a wider rim instead as I want to have something as low maintenance as possible

Cwah if you are rounding the nips then you are either trying to over tighten or using the wrong size tool to tighten them, D8veh and I pointed you towards a hardened one to buy last time you asked about 8 - 12 months ago.

I bought it and it works. But I feel the spokes are not as strong as I wish as I still round them sometime. I'd like to get something bullet proof. Because once a spoke is rounded, it's such a pain to fix.
