For sale is a Riese and Muller Roadster Touring HS (28 mph). It’s condition is probably best described as ex-demo. It was purchased from a specialist e-bike shop in Brighton last weekend and has done under 100 miles. A very badly timed change of circumstances forces sale - my commute has unexpectedly just gone from 12 miles to 2 miles (work has switched to a more central co-working space). Gutted as it’s an incredible bit of kit and I was really enjoying zipping around on it. It’s incredibly stable and responsive.

The specs are just as they are on the website. The frame size is 56cm and the colour (as you can see!) is black. As you’d expect the bike is in excellent condition, in fact as far as I can see it’s indistinguishable from new. Prior to the sale I will take it back to the bike shop for a full tune up (this was included in the price).

The bike will be supplied with everything it came with including a charger. In addition to that I will throw in the second more compact charger I purchased for charging it at work (RRP £80).

I paid the RRP of £3,449.00. For a quick and easy sale I’m willing to take £2900 for it. These are amazing bikes and are built to order so save yourself a six week wait and a big chunk of cash. I’m based in Brighton. Ideally the buyer would come and collect but I’m willing to discuss other options if necessary (although I’m not willing to post it. Any questions just shout. Currently only listed here. I have more pics if required.

Were you aware that it's illegal to ride this bike on UK roads before you bought it?

It’s not illegal to ride it on roads if it’s taxed and insured.
Does the necessary DfT type approval documentation come with the bike, I can't see the registration plate in the photo?

Without DfT approval I imagine it would be very difficult to insure the bike, did you find that?

And the chances of it being Taxed, Insured or Registered are???????????
Tax and insurance aren't transferable, its the DfT type approval documentation that's important for prospective buyers. Without that it might be extremely difficult to insure assuming the purchaser was will to take the gamble of riding it illegally.

Yep it’s one of the few pre-approved ones, it came with a document. I’ve only had the bike for a few days so not yet insured but I checked with Cycleplan and they were willing to insure it because of said doc.

Interesting, does the documentation say who performed the type approval testing and where they're based? Is it an official DfT headed document?

I'm sure many posters who are thinking of getting their own ebikes type approved would be interested to know, we hear that it's a very lengthy and time consuming process. Was the pre-approval sought by Riese & Muller or your ebike shop in Brighton?

I’m not at home right now but I will have a look at the document tomorrow. Pretty sure it would be R&M rather than the bike shop.
