After getting 95% comfortable with the standard Wisper saddle on my 905 Sport, I thought I'd treat myself to a Rido R2 in the hope of total comfort.
No matter how I sit on it, it's ten times worse than the old one! Is there a specific way you're supposed to sit on these things? I either feel like I'm falling off the back or sliding off the front.

Any users out there that can put my mind (and butt) at ease?

I tried one after reading good reports, but I really couldn't get on with it, I used it for about 6 months, now it's in my parts bin if anyone wants it!

i have not tried an R2 but my R1 was great straight out of the box. I think I ended up with it slightly more nose down than my more usual saddles. It is still on my mountain bike because I found it spectacularly good for off-road.

I tried several different saddles and then a Rido R2.

I am still using it but it took months to really get used to it.

Where it works is that your actual bum bones are supported but it never really feels 'comfortable'

It's all so unpredictable. The most comfortable I've tried is the standard one on my Brompton folder. It's narrow and by no means soft but it doesn't cause me aches or chafing anywhere and you feel you could ride forever on it.

Yes, the 'new' standard Brompton saddle is very good. It is also well suited for riding in jeans which is not always the case. I just put a Brooks B17 on my old Moulton but although it looks great I bitterly regret not just buying a Brompton saddle to match my everyday commuter.

I started out with the standard Wisper saddle and found it comfortabe for quite a time, I have progressed through a selection of saddles to a hard and narrow one that cost a fiver from the LBS and it's the most comfortable saddle I've had. I can't now ride far with a padded saddle as they cause me pain quickly, I tried the new Wisper velux(?) one that came with the 905 but I had to remove it and fit the hard one.
For me I think it's because my legs changed shape after I started riding as I didn't really change my riding position.
The R2 saddle interests me as it looks similar to the saddle I have now but as the one I have is comfortable I'm unlikely to fork out £35 for another.

Obviously saddles are a very personal thing because everyone's physiology is different. I find the Brookes Flyer to be a really comfortable saddle alongside a Fi'zik racing saddle, none of the gel saddles are good for me, my butt likes a hard saddle with suspension in the rails or as part of the saddle :D

I've only had my Wisper 705 for a 2 or 3 weeks , I bought a Rido2 at the same time as I was expecting it to be much better than the Wisper saddle but so far its not very comfy atall. I've probably only ridden about 50 miles, I wonder if I should persevere for a bit longer (I'm not sure what's going to make it any better but I see from other posts that it can take a while for you and your saddle to become compatible :)

I think you need a strange a**e for them to be comfortable, it's not like a Brooks that will mold to you, don't like em!

I've just googled bike saddles and the "Selle SMP Big Bum Sprung Comfort Saddle" -their words not mine:) - has 11 5 star reviews . The reviews are excellent , so I'm seriously thinking of ordering. A comfy saddle is the only thing I need now to make the Wisper perfect:)

Every time I lay off the bike for a while I go through a week of uncomfortableness when I get back onto it until this last time. I recalled I had a Velo wide rear-sprung job I bought a couple of years ago for about a tenner. I fitted that and the difference was marvellous. I think it must have been the forerunner of their current 'Plush' models, and it bears a distinct similarity to the Selle model mentioned. I would call it the "Far East" model, as that's an anagram of its name given by me.

I'd like to know the weights and physical make-up of the people who've recommended both the narrow bits of wood on the one hand, and the 'big bum' type comfort saddles on the other.

My suspicion is that the former group look more like traditional cyclists: fairly lean, not overweight, while the latter group are a couple of stones (or more) over the standard, and have fleshy parts, particularly their bottoms.

But once you've found the type which suits you better, it is then a question of fairly small adjustments over a week or more - a fraction further back, or forward (probably back if you're on a Wisper, because of the frame's design), and a fraction up or down. Make the adjustment then ride 5 or 10 miles before deciding it's right or wrong.

Me? Oh, OldTimer recommended a Comfort Saddle, and for me (massively overweight, some flesh on bum), it is!

I'm not usually any good at anagrams, but that one took about three seconds flat. Far be it from me to say that it might be an apposite description of a (fair) proportion of the membership.....

Do you still have it, I'd be interested.
