Hi
Recently I had an opportunity to try a Volt and I was very impressed. I am thinking of buying an ebike. I live in a hilly area so need a good climber.
I would like a bike ideally below £1000 to use for very short commutes - max. 3-4 miles one way but part of the journey with a 4 year old in the back seat.
I am 6ft, 95kg + my daughter about 22 kg. What would you recommend?

EDIT: sorry - can't edit the title - I am looking for a retro dutch style or road bike - not a touring bike.

If you want a crossbar bike, the Kudos Tornado has plenty of oomph in the motor. It's just over £1000, but you maybe you can get a bit of discount this time of the year. The Woosh Big Bears are also pretty good, especially the stepthrough one.

I recently had a go on the Ebco in the link and was impressed.

It seemed pokey, but I don't know how it would do in a shoot out with the Bear.

Slightly nicer and better made bicycle than the woosh, not sure if it's £300 nicer.

Ebcos are now in bike shops as well as Halfords, if you can avoid the latter it could be a good buy because you will have some support from the dealer.

Thank you for your suggestions. Having read some reviews it seems that some Kudos (i.e. Duke) and Ebcos are not exactly trouble free which in this price range is a bit disappoining. I am not sure I want to fork out cash for more expensive european bikes which might be more reliable but I don't have time to fiddle with repairs etc..
Also, I must admit I like extra security features in Sparta's bikes but none of them seem to tick all of my boxes. Mojo has the retro style but does not have the throttle and would probably strugle up the hills whereas RXS is possibly strong enough but costs over 2k.

If you want to haul weight, that RXS has maximum torque at 40NM, the BPM 60-65NM.

Thanks Trex. Big Bear is really interesting - and will definitely consider it.

Just noticed The Zephyr-B. I did not realise there were folding bikes with 26 inches wheels. Starting to like Whoosh a lot.
