Hello all,

I see from the UK Government website that a requirement for electrc bikes is

the bike must have a plate showing the manufacturer, the nominal voltage of the battery, and the motor’s power output

I have just bought a folding pedelec on Ebay and can't find such a plate anywhere. What can I do? Is my bike not legal?

Not necessary before 1st January 2016 when the new classifications come into force, or on any existing e-bikes after that including your one.

In fact the old EAPC law that has applied since 1983, including your new e-bike, required all e-bikes to have a plate showing the battery voltage, the motor power and the bikes weight.

As you see from your new e-bike, absolutely no-one ever did it, so I'm not confident the new version will be complied with any better!
