Hi
I've been offered a cheap powabyke X6 with a 36v lion battery in a bottle-style holder. The battery is knackered and I don't really want to pay £360-odd for a replacement 6Amp hour battery!
Can anyone advise on where I can purchase bare batteries in the correct configuration for stuffing inside the existing canister/fitting and how I might go about it?
Many Thanks

You can't buy cells pre configured.
You either have to buy singles and tab weld them your self or get them recelled professionally.

You need to be a little careful here as those bikes used brush motorsb instead of more modern brushless for a long time after every oneb else went brushless

Brushed pull a lot more amps and you'llb need cells that can cope

Best off chatting to Jimmy at bga reworking first. He can recell your pack or chat your options

You can remove that battery and its holder, then replace it with any 36v downtube battery you want. I'd avoid the cheapest ones because they're a bit weak. Aim for one that can give 20 amps or more.

here's the bike:

...can anyone tell if this is an old-school brushed motor? motor certainly looks pretty chunky... Do the words '36v high ouput' mean anything in this context?

Two wires in the motor cable is brushed, 3 ormore is brushless. If you can't see directlt, look at any connector in the motor cable or in that box behind the seat.

The X6 hub is a brushed 250w one, amp draw is dependant on the controller rating, having only a 6amp battery I doubt the amp draw is more then most modern brushless hubs.
The amp rating should be stated on the controller located in front of the bike rack.

You should possibly be able to replace the battery with any decent cell pack but before even thinking about doing so, you need to know the max amp draw.

They had a special high discharge battery with no BMS IIRC.
