Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the 200watt motor on my Powabyke Commuter with a 250watt motor from a Powatryke or a U.S. spec Powabyke?

And is there actually any difference?

Thanks for any thoughts / advice.

i've no idea but what would you gain from it,i don't think it would increase the speed, your battery life would decrease, you would probably get up hills a little better but the powabyke is pretty good anyway. I think you would increase climbing speed but loose on distance, i suppose it is what suits you best. Let me know if you do it and if it worth it
cheers

Hi Jkilner,

You will need to purchase a motor wheel for a trike, and respoke it into a 26" rim with different length spokes. The circuit board will be fine, the only problem I can see is the width of the trike motor is slightly wider than the commuter motor. You may need to source forks specially for the project.

Personally I do not really think you will notice any difference in performance, however if you do attempt it, please let me know the results!
