Hi folks

I had my swytch handlebar mount stolen recently- the only part not removable or locked up!

Swytch want £80 for a replacement item which seems quite steep. Does anyone know anywhere else I can get one or other options?

thanks

It is a bespoke part made for switch kit, although not CANbus but a proprietary bespoke part they can charge silly prices for spares as they have you by the balls.

One reason I mainly steer clear of most bespoke kits where one know that spares ar eonly available from one source.

Other (cheaper) makes are available on ebay.
Do not give Swych any money at all.
You may even find something better than swych, but certainly far cheaper!

I'm not technically minded so if it hadn't been for the swytch kit I probably wouldn't have gone electric at all.
As it is I'm planning to get a second bike without all the gizmos for 'fun'.

yeah I know what you mean but for the non technically minded the swytch kit seemed like a good option. If only I had the know-how!

Although to the uninitiated buying kit parts seperately can look like a minefield it needn't be so, buying reputable components which means not always the cheapest on the market means one can 80% of the time put a plug and play kit together. The two issues that can occur ares t the battery connection and one does really need some or to practice and learn some basic soldering skills for fitting new/different connectors and in some cases finding a wheel builder who will lace and true a hub motor in to a rim. With the latter one then can select the hub motor of choice without be restricted to the 3 - 4.5kg heavier ones, if one only wants a light weight option then sub 2kg hubs are available esp front hub motors which so many poo-poo when in fact they are highly capable if one doesn't want to tackle climbs like a TDF rider.
