Hello,

I have a TK Hansa 36Volt ebike (link). The battery is a 36V/8,5 Ah, NiMH.
Motor is a brushless 180watt 36volt disc brake hub motor.

Problem: I find it slightly to weak and I would like to have one with more torque.
I have found this motor that I think would fit my bike: disc-brake hub motor with 135mm 6-freewheel

Would it work (assuming that the controller can handle it) to use a lets say 36v 250 watt or 36v 350 watt motor with this battery? Would I be able to get full power from the motor? would I get more torque?

Thank you for your thoughts!!
Best regards,
Daniel

The motor might work with the existing controller, the positioning of the hall sensors in the motors would have to be the same though.

Whether you would get more power or more torque from the new motor is impossible to tell though without more details specifications. Those power figures are just crude indications of what the motor is designed for.

I've not come across either of the motors, perhaps someone else has.

Have you looked at the Suzhou Bafang motors?

Hi Dangie,

if you're going to the trouble of a new hub, please see a previous post:

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/1972-suzhou-bafang.html

things to consider,... a competent mechanic to build wheel around hub,... your existing controller should be OK, but a new one - with pedelec sensor & throttle & postage will add £50 to the final cost,... you already have a brake disc & gearhub on the existing wheel that you should be able to re-use,

let us know what you decide,
beeps

I'd also recommend the Suzhou Bafang motor. I've been looking to purchase one seperately but so far still no luck.
