Remove speed peg

Hi everyone,

I have just bought my first EBike. I love it, but it disturbs me that the speed is pegged at 25km/h. The seller says I am at liberty to remove peg, but in the manual there is no information how to do it. I wrote the dealer about this, but the instructions they sent me were not applicable. I read somewhere that I might just need to unplug a cable that is in a loop and usually colored white. I can see only one white cable in the motor controller but that doesnt seem to be in a loop.



I would appreciate any help on this.

If it has a limit wire, it will be two cores. Usually connected together is limited.

If may not be limited though. Can you lift the wheel and see how fast it goes?

Thank you for your reply. I had a ride yesterday, according to an app on my phone my highest speed was 33km/h and that was on a massive downhill, so it is definitely limited. I will have a good look again today to see if there are any wires connected.

I dont really understand how could I determine speed by lifting the wheel and look at it spinning...probs just a trick I never heard about?

Thank you for your reply. I had a ride yesterday, according to an app on my phone my highest speed was 33km/h and that was on a massive downhill, so it is definitely limited. I will have a good look again today to see if there are any wires connected.

If it is limited, it won't limit the bikes top speed, only the max speed before assistance cuts out. If you can't go faster than 30km/h down a steep hill you have a mechanical problem.

There were two possible connection that I could disconnect but both stopped the motor working so I guess I will have to wait until the dealer's tech team writes back with the solution, which probably won't happen soon. Funny, they are instant to take your money but not so instant when you need their support...

I think I could go faster than 33 on downhill if I turned off the motor and using my legs....will try this...just to see if there is any mechanical error as you suggested.

You wont need to turn off the motor.

I'm pretty certain that controller has no 'limit' wire; it looks like a Lishui square wave controller. To edit the software on these you need to buy the programming cable from Lishui which is £50 (maybe more now with the dollar/pound) And then either beg Lishui for the software to remove speed limiter (they wouldn't give it to us for testing purposes) or write it yourself.

Thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure that you are right.
I am well annoyed with the seller, because in the advert on Ebay he stated that the speed peg can be removed. Since then he admitted that he made a mistake and removed that promise from the advert.
Now I am in the polite phase, asking for partial refund that could cover any solution that can make my bike go faster, maybe the solution you just mentioned. Sadly I cannot return the bike anymore as the seat was cut to my height, I was too short even for the lowest seat position.
