Bosch , and probably the other manufacurers of ebike-engines have done measures now to make it impossible or harder to tune their engines. All because of EU-directives.
I do not know if the updated restrictions only are software-based or/ and hardwared-based.

Have any of you tested tuning-hardware on "updated" Bosch-engines ?

Even if you tune it and remove it there is an anti tamper detection that has to log it the big brother [Bosch dealer] will remember every thing at service /software reset time :(
The bigger question is what will the penalty be and who will enforce it all manufacturers will have to follow this directive

No not speculation one of the trade members a manufacturer that uses Bosch on here mentioned it on this forum. He also hinted other people had visits from uk trading standards Search for KTM BIKE INDUSTRIES on here think it was in june or july even talks about retro update to old bikes in software update:eek:
When the motor goes for service it is in the log :( all the Bosch bikes have this they know how many hours run assist and how many charges etc the joys of main dealer service :D glad I went bafang kit

Yes, I confirm that KTM have reported this logging now embedded in the Bosch unit log and the regulation change.

The repercussions of the software update to existing customers will be interesting to say the least:mad: if they use the bike on there own private land :(
I think it would be not fit for purpose and a full refund required:eek: from the dealer that installs the update fun times ahead when the display shows the service symbol:rolleyes:

I can't agree for a pedelec, since they are sold as being compliant with the EU wide law and therefore fit for that purpose.

A dongle breaches that manufactured purpose so the liability is the owner's, not the supplier.

I can see your point about a road use pedelec but what about the mtb marketed as off road only higher performance machine will this also affect them ?
so if you fit a dongle is it a criminal offence if it is, does the dealer have to report the owner

ebike shop sells and fits dongles and there one of the biggest haibike sellers and also honers the warranty.

It is not about a warranty, if they get this proposed law through dongles will break it and the bikes software record will prove it on the service print out , if so an offence will have been committed does the dealer have to report themselves for fitting it or the customer if they fit one typical nanny state /big brother

no proof a dongle has been fitted to a motor has ever been shown even full motor reports from bosch themselves does not show one has been used or not.

cant prove it tho can he or he would have posted it problem is he never does and the only win he has got is ebike shop had to remove the dongles from the same page as the bike as a option tho there still for sale on there site.

my dongle fits over the sensor so unless they find a way to remove that or change it then they will keep working.

and even if they do change it give it 2 months and new dongles will be out imo.

or just buy a s or r class bike in the first place tho ktm wont sell you one lol ;)

I agree there will be a way round it;) but how can they justify if they retrofit older bikes that have an enforced software update by the dealer when just in for a service just to put the light out its not like bikes have to have an mot:eek:

tell them not to install the firmware update in the first place, i have never had a update on my bike and changed displays with no problems.
