I do not know about those £15 SJS panniers, but I got these SJS £15.49 panniers: SJSC Black hook on pannier bags 40 litres per pair

I paid a total of £11.76 for them on SJS's eBay site (sjs_cycles), with a little patience they can easily be obtained for this sort of price.

I have not had them long so can not comment on longevity but, for the ultra low price, I am more than happy.

Iain :)

The wisper rear set, does the top bag unzip from the side bags?.

Nice though they look I bet they cost a lot more than £15. At least you can leave the £15 ones on the bike without panacking that they will be stolen !!

Eddieo, you can call Wisper or authorized Wisper dealer for the price. The mass QTY will be at southampton on about middle of November, but 10PCS of each(pannier and handle bar) will be at Wisper on about 6th Oct. I believe that are for the samples to Wisper dealer.

Yes, you are right, the top bag unzip from the side bags. You can lock the bags' lift to the rear rack by a lock through lifting yoke.

Here is the pictures of it's capacity.

I've just bought two sets of rear panniers, for mine and my wife's pro-connects.

I took advice from my mum, who's been overloading panniers with shopping on her bike for many, many years. She said she got through lots of cheap panniers over time, usually because the fabric wore through due to abrasion (probably the edges of baked beans tins!) or because the zip broke. The set she has now, which have lasted many years, are Ortlieb Back Rollers, which have a roll-top closure, are hard-wearing and waterproof (if fact, they will float). They also lift on and off the bike so easily you wonder how they stay on there when riding (the answer is a clever fixing method...).

The downside? £70 a pair. I think they're probably worth it if you prefer to buy something that lasts rather than than replacing something cheap every year or two.

I used a pair of Altura 16 litre ones, £24.99 from many bike shops, for over four years before equipping with some Dutch ones for my Q bike. The Alturas wrere used a couple times a week for heavy shopping, two carrier bags per pannier, for recycling stuff, and also often carried 5.5 kilo eZee batteries diagonally, putting huge strain on the corner seams. They are still in perfect condition after all that, so I don't think it's necessary to spend much more. The same pannier is made in several larger sizes as well, and had a quick fastening clip system that's very secure. There are also Velcro security straps to prevent instant theft, a handy zipped top compartment for odds and ends and reflective patches on the rear.

Also from Wiggle.

Are these the "Arran" model you are referring to?

do they have a Carry handle on top?

The Altura Arran 16 on SJS are priced @£24.99 each.. while the bigger 42 litres (21 litre each) versions are £35.00 for the pair. So on that basis sound better value, plus me and the wife can split a pair.

Yes, they are the Arran model Eddie, and they have a strong canvas loop handle at the top rear that tucks out of the way when the panniers are mounted. They are indeed very good value, and that's why many cycle shops stock the 16 litre ones.

You may well find them in a decent local cycle shop which will give you a chance to look at them. When carrier mounted, the clips hold the pannier top slightly higher than the carrier so the top surface is no longer completely flat, not normally a problem though if you also want to mount something flat bottomed on top as well, it could affect it.

The mounting clips are instant in use and fully adjustable for tightness and some position adjustment as well.

Thanks Flecc! I will order them tomorrow:)

nearly there now with accessories, I have a waterproof jacket, Gold rated D lock with kryptonite cable. Plus the bike alarm.

I had an inner tube repair kit, but I just need a compact tool kit as my wisper did not come with one....any recommendations? Halfords I guess?

I don't have a recommendation as I always make my own up for each bike Eddie, as this page on my website shows.

I dare say Halfords and local bike shops will have something, but you will have to check any spanners included are the right sizes.

I keep the following in a pocket in my pannier:
A set of allen keys (use lots)
dumbell-type multi-size spanner (hardly ever use)
screwdriver with small and large + and - bits (use a bit)
puncture repair kit (halfords one, not opened yet (fingers crossed!))
spare inner tube
gas cylinder thing for re-inflating tyres (because it is smaller than a pump - served me well the only time I had to use one)
Half a dozen cable ties (use occasionally when bits drop off)
Roll of insulation tape (use quite a bit when bits look like they might drop off)
