A friend is looking at getting the 2016 version of the Motus that has hub powered lights but asked me if I know what happens when you stop. I don't know personally but guessing it has some form of battery inside to hold a charge for a while as cutting off when you stop sounds dangerous.

Anyone know?

Thanks but that doesn't address the question asked.

The motus come with hub powered lights so the ones in that video are not needed.

The front probably goes out, although the rear may have a capacitor which means it stays on for a minute or two.

Some 2016 Bosch bikes have the lights hard wired from the battery.

They may stay on all the time.

Clip-on LED rechargeable lights are good these days, so your friend should be able to come up with a suitable overall package.

Lidl often have those little clip on ones. Mrs Quay picked up a set for £2.99 during the week, just as a back up.

I should think there would be a stand light facility, my 2011 khalkhoff does, since the Motus is German ,I expect that will too,
It is part of German requirements that they do.

Probably the same behaviour as the current Kalkhoff bikes with hub dynamos: there is a capacitor built-in, to keep some of the lights on for a little while when the bike is stopped.

The rear light does stay on when you stop (using either a capacitor or button battery). For how long I am not sure. The one on my bike stays on for about ten minutes.
