We have a forge step through that now refuses to turn on pinned it down to the display seems to have a blown smd or something not too sure why.

bike was working well before this happened, have looked for a new display for this model but everywhere out of stock.

now from reading up about these they are pre canbus and the battery is a Bl03 36v 11ah which still has a bit of life in it.

so onto my query if i was to purchase a new controller and display and then solder new battery connector to the current socket would the motor on the front care ? i guess its just a standard hall brushless one so its just a matter of matching colours on the hall sensors and getting the rotation correct for the 3 power wires or do the 2 additional plug connectors control the battery

cheers for any input

I've seen those displays turn up on ebay (both new and s/h from breakers) especially on .de and .fr although Holland Bike usually hold good TranzX spares. Another member here was trying to source a DP15 TranzX display with no luck even though TranzX were showing them available in stock at their German warehouse; it seems no-one wanted to know. Apart from Raleigh's Stow-e-way, no-one uses TranzX in the UK anymore.

Given the limited life of the battery, if the bike is still in good shape, maybe just use it as a donor and change everything?

thats what i am thinking it hasn't been used much tbh will see if i can get one of our spare controllers to talk to the motor, maybe just use the frame and replace the front wheel if i cant get it to run

from what i keep reading it seems this brand want you to purchase a new bike over repairing old ones
