Question about LCD wiring

Finding my (electric) wheels

Comopleted my first E-bike conversion kit installation today and it works perfectly, however I have one question.

I bought a battery second hand off a user on eBay, and with it he sent me his old controller and LCD screen and a few other spares. I had already bought a conversion kit that came with the controller, PAS, Brake levers etc however I went for the cheaper option and didn’t get one with the LCD screen.

My question is, since the controllers are different, is there anyway I could use the LCD screen with my new controller. I have a few spare cables as I’m not using PAS at the minute and I’m only using the rear brake lever that has the auto cut off feature. Would either of these be compatible with the LCD if I was to cut off the connectors and wire them together manually so there compatible? Or would that not work.

I don’t know much about electrics but I can solder and connect cables if I needed too.

If anyone can give me any guidance at all it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Normally no. The only exception is when the other controller has a digital LED panel.

There are 5 wires on the LCD:
battery voltage (red)
ground (black)
switched battery voltage to power the controller (normally blue)
data Tx (could be any colour)
data Rx (could be any colour)

All speed, power, settings, and other info is sent through the data wires. Analogue controllers (without data cables) can't communicate with the LCD, so the only thing you could use it for is as a switch to switch on the controller if you connect the blue to the controller's ignition wire and the red and black to the battery. The LCD will light up, but you can't do anything with it.
