This post is really aimed at Flecc.
On a previous thread Flecc showed a picture of the internals of a Quando FWD hub motor. I have an Alien Titan bike, which is very similar to the Synergie Avanti, therefore I'm assuming that my bike also has a Quando Motor or something very similar.
So the question is, how do I dissasemble the motor for maintainance and do I need to? I'm thinking mainly about greasing the reduction gears and for any future work on the brushes, as I believe the motor is a brushed type.

As you say Bob, that is a brushed motor and I'm not familiar with it, so can't advise on specifics. Generally speaking they can go years without greasing, but brush replacement can sometimes crop up more quickly, a couple of years if quite heavily used on some motors.

The Quando motor is a very different Hall effect motor. These are somewhat simpler in construction since they are in effect incomplete, the remainder of the motor being within the separate controller.

As a generalisation again on hub motors, stripping is fairly straight forward and when reassembling they often have one side to which the spindle assembly is tightened against the hub shell bearing. In the case of the Quando motor, after greasing the cogs the spindle assembly is replaced into the hub shell and the outer nut on that side tightened against the bearing to positively locate the spindle. Then the other side of the hub shell with it's bearing is replaced and assembly completed.

Cautionary notes are, make sure any shims on the spindle are replaced, and use a high temperature grease.
