There I was, minding my own business, enjoying a lovely country ride when I hit a rough bit of road and my mini pump leapt out of it's bracket onto the road.:(

Hubby tried to rescue it but the one and only car within a mile of the spot managed to run over it!

What do you other guys and gals do to secure your pump?
I'm thinking maybe a plastic tie unless anyone has a better solution.

I have Schwalbe MP tyres and usually don't carry a pump. But when I did, I secured it with a large rubber band.

Velcro strap, easy to undo/redo if and when you need the pump. A plastic tie will need a cutting device to free the pump, then u will need another new tie to secure it after use

yay.. I never understand why women worry so much how things look. A plastic bag and a large rubber band keep a few tools and pump together and do not attract thieves.

I was going to write "What is a pump?" then I remembered I have one in the bottom of my pannier bag. I think I may have even used it once or twice

The velcro strap idea appeals.
I may even be able to get one that is colour coded to match my bike! (That's especially for Trex!)

A few Co2 canisters in my pocket.
Far easier than having to carry a pump

I have a couple of pairs of latex gloves squeezed in there. Not that I have used them, as I always forget about them until it's too late. o_O

Between the kinder case and the pump, is an inner tube, which is placed inside of a sunglasses bag. I only mention it, as the bags are another Ebay bargain, and prove to be a very useful addition to any cycle kit, even if it's only to put coffee and cake money in. With a bit of hunting down, they cost £2.00 for ten bags. Bargain. :)

edit.. I'm wrong about the kinder contents. I've just realised that the gloves are next to the whistle.
It's been so long since I've looked in the rucksack, that I've forgotten. I'll have to go and have a look now, and hope that it is a folded up £20.00 note. :)

Lancslass,

The majority of pumps supplied with bikes are pretty useless, just make sure the replacement is fit for purpose and that you know how to use it.

Yes yes yes, do make sure all your kit is fit for purpose, your pump fits your valves and actualy pumps up your tubes.
One time I stoped to help someone who thought he had all the right kit, only to find his patch glue had dried up and his spare tubes valve stem was to short to go through his deep wheel rims.
I stuck one of my glue-less patch (scabs) to his old tube, he then found his pump didn't make any pressure anyhow, so it was my mini pump that got him back on the road
