Driver charged with splashing kids

A woman who made a video of herself driving through a puddle and soaking school children faces court.

there is hope for us all after all, hopefully justice will be done !

Yes that angers me when I see drivers thoughtlessly drive through a puddle at speed alongside a bus stop or similar when pedestrians are going to get soaked. It's good to know of a prosecution for doing it, particularly when it's callously deliberate.

.

Do these people know or even care that their thoughtless actions of self-gratification bring suffering and misery to others

It's a serious splash. Had it been me I'd have been keen to meet the gits behind the wheel in person.

"Driving through a puddle to splash bystanders is an offence of "careless, and inconsiderate, driving" under the Road Traffic Act section 3 and carries a fine of up to £2,500."

sounded to me as if the verminous passenger was partly responsible for this 'jolly-jape', egging on & directing the female driver, is there not some action that could be brought to bear upon him...? sounding like an objectionable 'oik', he also seems immature and irresponsible, what if there had been grit or glass in the wave thrown up at the pedestrians.

'bring back the birch' i say...

technically it is conspiracy to the motoring offence but I have never heard of anyone being busted for conspiracy to commit a motoring offence (however serious) - although I am not a legal expert I do have an interest in criminology and have been closely monitoring the work of cops/criminal justice system since my teenage years.

Either in the eyes of the law the buck rests with the person behind the wheel of a vehicle, or that (more likely) its only comparatively recently that motoring offences have been considered to be "real crime" compared to violence, drugs, theft etc..

Although I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of doing anything like this - I suspect that with current sentencing policies, if I had a alleged "mental breakdown", "borrowed" a pool car from work, went on a drive and knocked someone down I'd still get less penalty/prison time/time in secure hospital (despite not having a valid driving license) than if I had the same "mental breakdown" and attacked someone, even if I did the victim more injuries in the collision as it would be easy to argue the collision was an "accident".

Cops are saying (quite rightly IMO) it makes no difference as it is a dangerous thing to do on the public highway (for all the reasons already mentioned) even if the kids did consent....

I like some of the funny stuff on youtube - some years ago I worked as an engineer in the TV industry and had ambitions of working in "yoof TV" production (unfortunately the industry imploded in the 1990s) - so appreciate stunts and short sketches and SFX - but without proper vetting and censorship of the content it worries me that it encourages folk to carry out foolhardy and dangerous stunts without any proper professional training and preparation...

I remember even ITV/Granada producers expressed concern that some folks were deliberately setting up dangerous occurences to get on "you've been framed" and similar shows.
