I skimmed this and it nonsense essentially?

Must've missed the bit that says 'this will cause less fires', save the money and spend it on big **** off clear stickers that say charge your bike with correct charger. Really big stickers, and stickers are cheap, really cheap, probably you could sticker the entire UK for the cost of a bill passing through parliament...

Here's the real joke about this Portals - in 2023 there were 199 ebike fires recorded out of a total list of fire incidents of 591,676.

Ebike fires were about one in 3000 of the fires in the UK.

To be exact, in 2023, for every e-bike fire there were 2973 fires due to other causes.

Higher standards and basic foolproofing are hard to argue against. I'd vote for putting that to bed and moving on to the progress I'd like to see: facilitating s-pedelecs in the UK.

"ESF welcomes the introduction of the Product Regulation and Metrology Bill and urges parliamentarians of all parties to take advantage of the opportunity it offers to strengthen legislation. ESF’s campaign has extensive support and if its recommendations are implemented lives will be saved."
