How on earth can the folding mechanisms get weakened during shipping? Sounds like BS.

Definitely bs, unless the transportation environment includes heating beyond the alloys limits!
Who are they using for shipping, beelzebub?
Maybe their bikes are going "Trans" ? ;-)

Perhaps Fiido are saving on container costs by dragging bikes behind ships in fishing nets through seawater for two months?
