I would give this government the benefit of reasonable doubt. The deal is work in progress, maybe procedures will be streamlined in the future and double taxation avoided.
Personally, I don't find the new procedures difficult to deal with. The main issue is the rule of origin for e-bikes and e-bike parts as the UK and EU assemble mostly the bikes with imported parts. If you bring in some e-bikes via the EU, you would be subjected to double duty, one lot to the EU and a second lot to HMRC.
The flip side is that will encourage assembly here in the UK to avoid paying duty twice.
