Hi Frank

Have you got the dimensions of that lithium battery of yours?

If ok I'd pay for it as I almost never win anything. I say "almost", because once in my 71 years I did win something, a dishcloth in a village fete.

Hi Flecc, the lithium batteries fit into the current frames of the Powabykes so vary in size from model to model. The internal cells however only take up a proportion of the whole battery case and are slightly bigger than a typical AA battery. Quantity of cells depend upon the Lite or Plus battery. There are two types of Lithium batteries we use, the "Lite" and the "Plus". The "Plus" gives a range similar to the lead acid battery circa 20 miles in pure power and 30 miles in PAS. (obviously there are many variables that affect this that Im sure are aware of!). The Lite has roughly half the range. Weights are 4kg for the Plus and 2.5kg for the lite.

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes in life! However in my 28 years I have only ever won a goldfish at the local fair when I was 6 years old, even then I think my sister had to throw the darts at the dartboard as I got too close to the goldfish!!

Ha! Carpetbagger, Depending on which bike you have, if you order a lithium battery through your local dealer, I will make sure they do a deal of all deals for you on the forks!!

I can't say fairer than that!

Thanks Frank. I knew of the two sizes and suspected the content would be smaller than the case. Slightly surprised that such a small battery can supply enough consistent current when hill climbing with your very powerful motor. The chemistry must be good.

Glad the goldfish survived the harpooning risk. :D

powabyke batteries

hi,for frank, i have a powabyke 24 euro and use it every day i have had it for about two and a half years i have had to get it fixed quite a lot mainly bike parts but the lead acid batteries are now on their last legs(2 of) i do about 700 miles a year conservitive . i was wondering if it is possible to get nimh batteries for it and if so what cost. as lithium batteries are getting a bad press and i need strong batteries as i have lots of steep hills. also has no way been found yet to derestrict the powabyke.
p.s. my ideal bike derestricted not too dear, reliable , good distance and dealer in glasgow.
