Posting Lithium batteries in the UK

Hi all. I’ve been mulling over selling a couple of Swytch Max batteries now I’ve moved onto bigger battery packs. The obvious choice for me is putting them on ebay. The problem comes in what to offer regarding postage, as Collection Only is rather limiting when looking for a big audience.

The Swytch Max pack is extremely well protected - both physically and electrically. Some couriers indicate that batteries are acceptable if they are mounted in the device that they are intended for, and it could be argued that in this case the batteries are indeed mounted within a battery pack i.e. the intended-use device.

what do people on the forum do?

As an individual private punter , one may find it hard to find a courier who will accept it especially as it is a used item.
Collection only may be the only option.
Tbh one will have to contact various couriers first to see if they will take on the liability .

This is UN3480 / UN3481 dangerous goods, with requirements for packaging, labelling and documentation throughout the journey. Hard to achieve as a private seller.

Bear in mind (1) unlikely though it is, you can't be certain of the transport mode a parcel will take, so small and light might fly, which is a complete no-no; (2) you are responsible, and if anything goes badly wrong the consequences are unthinkable.

Better to list 99p start, collection only, and take the hit up front.
