Poor range

We have recently (3 weeks ago) bought a Windsor and a Salisbury. The Windsor seems to only be able to last about 12 miles before the battery shuts down, and that is in normal pedelec mode on fairly moderate gradients.

From fully charged, it goes down to 2 lights on the battery after about 6 miles, and down to 1 battery light after 10-12 miles, at which time the motor will only assist intermittently (low voltage cutoff protection being activated?)

I was expecting the range to be rather better than that....

I'm realistic enough not to expect the brochure claims of 35 miles to be met, but I was expecting 20+ miles from what others have said on this forum.

Is the voltage cutoff unit inside the battery casing, or is it actually built into the bike? (So I know whether I will need to return the bike or just the battery, for rectification....)

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

Try using the other battery on the bike with poor range if it still does the same its the bike if it dosent its the battery :) they do have problems with the motor on these

Good suggestion by Scatty for first port of call. Swap batteries. Next, can the riders swap bikes for a test? These two bikes are essentially the same(?) so this would eliminate riding styles, rider weight etc which makes a huge difference on e-bikes.
Either way if you think there is a problem contact the seller to see if he can help. (it prepares the ground for a potential return also.)

I have the very same bikes as you and at first a simalar problem ,but I found the problem was the charger cutting out to early. But by putting the cable into the battery LAST the battery would accept a lot more charge .

Hope this helps
