bike1 was 2nd hand + new ebike kit (+ ££ for maintenance & a good service)
bike2 was new + 2nd hand ebike kit (+ ££ to upgrade the ebike kit)

I bought a 2nd hand Vengeance e-spec a few years ago as my 1st E-Bike. just to see if E-Biking was for me Lots of horror stories around but mine has been faultless. I also bought a 2nd one as a non runner for spares but an easy fix so now I have 2. One set up for daily road use and the orginal with a more "Off road set up" which I take up to Scotland for trail riding.

Having 2 compatible batteries means I can plan whole day trips with no worries of "Range anxiety". Considering upgrading forks etc on the "Off Road" bike but to be honest my mind says "Go for it" My body says "WTF are you thinking fat boy". So for now I might hang a few nice trinkets off it but unless something breaks I'm happy with my lot.

i thought the valve had split but there is a fkn chunk of me wheel missing. is it worth trying rim tape or has this wheel had it :( only 2 year warranty with these so long gone.

I do think that there's an extremely elitist element to e bikes, I'm sure it's in other parts of life but it's been very obvious and prevalent to me, I've usually managed to sidestep the marketing influences and strategies that companies utilise to relieve the general public of their hard earned cash and don't often buy something because its advertised, more likely just the opposite but I did part with close to £1700 in October last year for an Oxygen s cross, I bought it to try to keep fit after a health issue last year and I'm very pleased with the performance and build quality so far (600 mls) What I can't get my head around is the amount of money people will happily part with to have a 'label' and when you break down the cost of an expensive bike into three components, the frame, the electronics and most expensive part, the label, has everything in life turned into 'keeping up with the Jones's' or is it just me. The only negatives with the Oxygen have been the seat and 4 punctures!

Last ebike I bought was my Swizzbee #2 for £250, the battery was knackered though battery from #1 powers it as does the 8s 7p PF battery I built.
Last two kits weren't too bad , one cost about £200 without battery I bought a Bafang G370 & Kt controller via TBK. The bike frame I paid good money for and built up the bike from scratch, new forks were £180 and use other batteries I have Other kit was a Revos friction drive bought as an early bird start up and was < £400, the donor push bike was £800 and reduced.

15 Yr old GT Nomad Hybrid, a hand me down from son. Bbs01b kit fitted with large battery. Then a fair bit spent on lights, horn, USB socket, panniers, tools for motor, studded winter tyres - they needed new rims! Also got a pair of cheap sprung forks, sprung seat post and brookes copy sprung saddle for a bit of comfort.
I have a narrowboat, they are oft described as a hole in the water to throw money in. Bikes are the land equivalent.

and will be charged £1 per minute at a lbs because they wont even know what speed chain to buy jet wash it every weekend and wonder why its dead in 6 months.
