Hi all, I’m really desperate for help

My e-bike is my sole mode of transport for my commute to work and I’m having big problems.

the bike is an ‘e-go lite+’
It developed a fault where the screen had too much condensation and I had to replace the LCD screen. FYI the screen is KT-LCD5

Now bike powers up however there is no pedal assist / cruise feature and I can’t ride it without the motor as it’s so heavy.

Does the LCD need programming? I’ve seen some YouTube videos about entering setup mode but I’m baffled what P1, P2, P3 etc means.

really need some help, happy to pay for someone’s time as I’m so desperate

Could be something silly like the PAS set to sense in the opposite direction. Can you get into set up mode? Have you downloaded a manual?

Thanks for the reply, I’ve got the manual and have been in the setup mode.

the problem I have is the translation is really bad conversion from Chinese and it’s hard for me to understand.

No action when I pedal in reverse :-(
I’m assuming the LCD needs to be programmed but it’s so confusing

As you have changed the LCD , I assume all of the electronics are KT brand.
For PAS to work one has to input the correct value for parameter C1, we need to know which PAS type is used.
As for P1 tell us which hub motor is used.
P1 dictates the true speed the display records so the speed reading and odo reading can be fairly accurate, the P1 value is dependant on motor winding magnets X the motor gear reduction.
Tell us which hub motor is used.
P2 is speed signal , this means how many sensing magnets the hub uses for speed pick up. Normally the value is 1 but could be 6. If a spoke magnet is used then the value is 1.
P3 is simply the control method used for power . 0 is speed control & 1 is current control. Current control is by far the much better setting to use for a more relaxed ride.
P4 depends on if a throttle is used.
P5 is simply how long the battery bars last for each segment, with the lcd5 P5 it isn't important as one has the voltage readout which is far more accurate to use.

C settings are few and far between .
The ones of note to set are C1, C3, C4,C5, C11, C12, & C14.
C1 is the one that affects PAS so as mentioned we need to know the PAS type used, if not sure take a pic of the PAS magnet disc & sensor set up for us to see.

Thank you…..here is an image of the sensor - does this help?
I will also try to get a photo of the motor ASAP
I really appreciate your help

For PAS the C1 one setting will be one of three values depending on which works the best , so C1 7 is the most likely one but one can try values 5 & 6 as well.

For P1 set the value to 84 and give it a whirl other wise one can change the value anywhere up to 100 to get an accurate speed reading, to get the value correct use a GPS to match the display speed within 0.1 or 0.2 kmh/mph.

P2 1 should work for the mxus.

That rear brake cable needs replacing looking at the state of it , also buy a small pack of brake cable ends to prevent the wire delaminating.

KT LCD's are generally quite easy to set up, if the component types are known.
What you need to do is write/note down all of the P & C settings to keep them safe , then one can refer to them should a later issue occur.

I dont know if this helps, but most ebikes have a 'walk assist' function that works independently of the pedal assist sensor (PAS). On the KT LCD5, with the bike powered up but not moving, pressing the down arrow button should normally weakly/slowly put the wheel in motion. (make sure pas on LCD screen is not at zero) Also make sure brakes are not sticking. When you pull brakes, a small brake symbol appears on bottom left corner of screen. It should go off when you release brake. If the above work, the LCD is at least communicating with the controller and visa/versa and motor has some function and this points to likely pedal sensor not working or wrongly configured. Best of luck.

thank you - yes this all worked exactly as you outline , it was just the P and C settings which I was struggling withbut thanks to Nealh I am back on the road again
