Hi, just bought a folding electric bike on eBay and it's not working. Now I could argue the point but if I can get it going it will be fab.

Here's the symptoms:

1. Battery light reads full.
2. On acceleration a surge occurs then complete loss of power. Then a surge again. This continues.
3. While this is happening light goes to yellow indicating afloat battery on handlebar.
4. When no weight on bike (lifting rear wheel) there is now power issue, it only happen when resistance is applied, eg sitting on it.
5. One cell blown in battery, I have removed and rewired.
6. 22.8v output.

Okay, i know the battery is not providing a full 24v but will create this intermittent problem? The start/stop of power is uniform in time, making me think it could be a controller or hub issue.

Any pointers greatly appreciated!

Richard

You are hitting the low voltage cut off in the controller/bms. Fix the battery and the problem will most likely be solved. The cut off is there to protect the batteries.
