It doesn't seem to disengage, so free-wheeling and riding without power are not going to be much fun. They should have fitted a cable to disengage it completely. It wouldn't have taken much effort to do that - just pull the arm up against the spring.

It has regen, so if you pedal twice as hard, it will charge up the battery. Some guys just don't think it through when they come up with these ideas. At least you'll always be able to charge your phone when there are power cuts, as long as you're fit enough to pedal hard.

Wait... so 43 miles is how far you must ride until it is fully charged?
