Hello.

Wonder about the quality difference between a bike with shimano steps vs a bike with bafang motor and phylion battery.
I have the battery on the third pics http://www.phylion.com/m/en/product_2_2.asp
Any experience with this type battery?

It came with a bafang rear motor, dont know the brand on the display..
Almost same bike with a shimano step mid motor cost 800 dollar more.
Would the shimano electronic have better quality or do you pay most for the mid motor technology?

Thanks for reply.

If you have good donor bike and you like it, a kit maybe better plus it works out lot cheaper. The Shimano battery comes with 2yr warranty. While cheaper battery may not last as long it is lot cheaper to replace.

Riding experience is different between STEPs torque sensing and most kits cadence sensing. You need to test ride both to understand difference.

Regardless of drive system don't lose sight of fact that bike selection should come down to frame/bike 1st, drive 2nd. A great drive system will not compensate for poor rider-frame fit.

Yes i have try both system and i like how the rear engine start up soft then it feels like a turbo, rear motor feels more powerfull since it push you forward sometimes without using pedals and it give full power everytime, only difference in the 6 step is the speed.
Mid motor only work when you use pedals, more comfort in that way and more natural.

I just come to think if the bafang is solid enough and the Phylion batteries.
How can i find the brand of the speed controller?
If the quality is fine then i stick to my rear motor setup. If the Phylion battery could be charged up 600 times then i think its great. I get 50km on one full charge. That would be 30000km before its time for a new bike. Phylion give 2 years warranty.

There's too many other variables and parameters to say anything meaningful about the difference between a hub-motor and a Steps system.

Which hub-motor is it?
What's its maximum rpm?
How much current does the controller give?
What size wheel is it?
What type of bike?
What's it going to be used for?
How heavy is the rider?
