peugeot ec03-200 intermittent fault

Hi there we have a Peugeot ec03-200 ebike that has an intermittent fault. When riding the motor cuts in & out intermittently, I have performed a few basic checks .
The battery is fully charged & connector pins checked
All electric cable connectors disconnected cleaned & remade
The motor controller appears to be working correctly with all buttons & selections working
my next step is to purchase a motor tester & test the motor ?
Any advice would be very helpful

Checking the web, the bike dates from 2017. How many miles has the bike done?

It superficially sounds to me as if the battery is worn out, which is normal after 5 years, especially if A) it's been neglected or B) used heavily/quite frequently.

It may appear to be fully charged, but the tell-tale sign is that as soon as you place a demand on the motor - use high assist, or try going up a hill - the current required from the battery causes it to "sag" sufficiently that the battery cuts out. Ease off demand/use a lower assist level, and the battery behaves normally.

If that seems to be what is happening, you need to consider a recell or a new battery.

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch.
I bought the bike second hand sold as seen with the intermittent fault.
I will take it out soon & see if the problem is apparent on the lowest assist level.

The other thing it could be (I see it's a front hub motor with PAS): There should be a sensor on the crank that sends a signal to the controller so that when the pedals are turned the motor applies power. One part is most often a magnet disc - just check to ensure it's evenly spaced from the sensor by about 1mm-2mm and turns consistently with the crank. If that's been disturbed/too far apart/loose/wonky, the motor would assist intermittently.

Ok that sounds like an area to check too, I will have a look for the sensor & let you know how I get on,

The explanation and fault sounds like PAS, either the disc isn't secure enough and is freely or partly rotating around it's axis or the gap to the sensor isn't 1mm or less.

If any magnets are missing press in new ones.
