I thought "Hey that guy ahead isn't pedalling. Let's have some fun!" :)

Me, "Is that an ebike mate?"

Pete, thinking I was just another abusive cyclist, "Yes it is, and I can do this"... (tries to zoom off ahead).

Me, "So can I"... ZOOOOM!

Me, slowing down..

Pete, "Yeah but mine has a throttle... (tries to zoom off again).

Me, "So do I."... ZOOOOM!

Pete, "Oh.. it's also an ebike! (The penny drops). :D

We had a good chat about good places to ride and then had a leisurely ride around the park. I showed him where the café was and went about my way. Nice to meet you Pete. :)

And a lovely sunny day for it, too! A stop at the cafe may well have been a necessity to prevent dehydration today.

Maybe you and Pete could be the foundation of a local ebike club?

Judging by his accent, I'm not sure that Pete is from my area. He said that he just takes off around the midlands area, and sometimes further afield, doing some nice country trails on his Freego. :)

I strongly disagree with you there Pete. Not because you're wrong. But because you proferred it as an excuse for having one. Yes, ebikes and pedelecs are beneficial for some disabled and also older adults, in many cases. However, that shouldn't be seen as the primary reason for getting one. They're fun for everyone. Fun is always a good enough reason to be doing something. Then there's 'exercise', 'keeping up with the young uns', 'walking the dog', 'getting fitter', 'losing weight'.. Or just plain old 'fresh air'. :)

Too often people use that as the reason for getting one, especially on the regular bike forums. I argue that I use mine equally as much as them and mostly for pleasure, not pain. :D
