It's "pedalling", guys (what you do with pedals), as opposed to "peddling" (what you might do with drugs, etc.)!

Yes but none of those additions are cycling ones.

Though I'm also concerned about the state of spelling in Britain today, I often post "not to worry" when posters are apologetic about their general spelling since this isn't a site devoted to correct English.

However I think we can expect the correct word to be used for a cycling reference, not one with a very different meaning unrelated to cycling.

Hah, as long as we're talking about language and cycling. I must say this UK Reuter's review of Mama Mia had the funniest use of the word "bike" I'll probably see all year.

Meryl Streep plays a single mum who is the impoverished owner of a dilapidated island taverna, about to celebrate the wedding of her only daughter. lol is text speak for "laughing out loud". I don't imagine knowing what it means will make you like it any better though .

But if you hover your mouse over the green smilie (usually spelt smiley in my experience since we're all being picky now!), it says "Big Grin". Far more demure than "Laughing Out Loud" I'd suggest?!?

I can't remember who was telling this story, but an adult was signing off "LOL" thinking it meant "Lots of Love" instead of "Laughing out Loud" when sending messages to her kids.

Naturally, this would cause some distress depending on the circumstances.
