I'm not interested in buying this bike myself, but I just thought I'd make a post about it because it seems an amazing price for a crank-drive bike at just £699: http://pedalease.co.uk/index.php?rt=product/product&path=70&product_id=13172404

They are selling the bike on Ebay also but at a higher price than on their own website: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pedalease-Hybrid-X-Cross-Mid-Drive-Electric-bike-36v-250W-High-torque-/131708296807?var=&hash=item1eaa6d1e67:m:mkyfLT7GDm5w7tnJXQjb43A

The bike looks to have good specs, and it has a nice appearance. Considering it is a crank-drive, it appears to be a real bargain at that price.

Anyone heard of the company Pedalease? They don't seem to be mentioned much on these forums.

Edit: I've just seen that the listing on Ebay is of a "high torque" version of the bike selling at £699, hence the higher price of £775. The high-torque version is also on their own website selling at the same price as on Ebay. The high-torque version is presumably the one that most people would want to buy, and £775 is still a really low price.

Sounds like a great price for a good bike. However, it could be a lot of money to give to an unknown company.

I agree. It would be a bit of a gamble. At least they're a British company though (based in Middlesex), and they've been in business for many years. They make a large number of motor kits as well, and also sell unpowered bicycles.

I would never give £700 or £800 to a business that does not even mention a proper address on its website, nor a phone number.

Also, I am a bit suspicious of the need to have a currency selector, for a business supposed to be based in the UK...

On eBay, there is an address of...a flat. I think it's just some guy doing some drop shifting.

The Ebay sellers genuine enough, over 99% positive and plenty of sales.

However, a typical chinese product with the controller attached with a nasty zip tie!

Plenty more similar round that price point on Ebay.

What's nasty about a cable tie I've had lots of fun with them down the years ;)

Are Pedalease mid-drive kits any good? Do they use Bafang controllers? If not, can Pedalease controller firmware be re-programmed?

Six years ago CS from them was poor so if they are still in business, tread carefully.
