I don't think that relects the situation. Like Johnny Rotten, The Ledge was an actor and larper. He found a winning formula and made a lot of money from it, got more awards than probably any othe musician, and became famous to the point he's even mentioned on ebike forums 61 years after his big hit, and his career as a performer lasted at leat 50 years.
