Confused.com???
When the Panasonic battery is fully charged what happens?
Agattu booklets says all LED's lite.
Pro Connect booklet (that I got today) says all LEDS go out then fully charged.
I've had 5 LED's for the last 90 mins but the LED's have not gone out yet.

Which is right?

All you need is a little patience and I am sure you have had plenty of practice at being patient:rolleyes:

I'm a mere Agattu owner, but when I collected mine I fully charged the batteries before using the bike. Then rode in until the power ran out twice or three to condition the cells, after that inital period charge fully untill the LEDs have gone out after every use.

Enjoy;)

From the fifth one on to all going out can take well over an hour first charge, but be patient, since the initial full charges and then full discharges are important for conditioning the battery to get the full range.

I didn't think you needed to "condition the cells" with Lithium batteries; was I wrong?

Hi guys the lights went out about an hour after the initial post.

Striaght off on the bike.
Didn't have time to post reply yesterday.
The evening was too nice.

I know I should have more patience, but this bike was my birthday present dont forget...............From March 2008.

Yes, they have to be conditioned with a couple of full charges and discharges to condition and equalise the content state. That assures they reach full capacity.

Thereafter charging as often as possible and avoiding unnecessarily emptying the battery is best. The only other precaution is not to let the battery go over three months without recharging, and I operate all mine in storage on a two month cycle.

Thanks --- that's all well worth knowing.

(Hope you don't mind using the thread to ask a question about the original Lafree Twist battery.

I have two in town sources for D cell batteries (one 2500mAh NiMH and the other 4500mAh). Um, which matches the original panasonic pack output when you have the full compliment? Either?

Neither prState. The original had very high quality Pansonic cells of 6.5 Ah, and a later version was briefly released with 9 Ah.

These capacity figures are not the whole story though. Of more importance is the ability to deleiver current fast enough for our motors, and the cheaper lower capacity cells can't do that. The cells that can generally cost at least twice as much, for example 8 to 10 Ah cells costing from £9 to £11 each typically.

Packs are cheaper. Nobody does 6.5 Ah any more, but this suitable 10 Ah pack from US supplier Batteryspace costs $249.85.

One of our UK members has successfully recelled his Lafree battery with one of these packs, following my webpage instructions.
