I have a Gazelle C7 HF and the Panasonic battery is 'kaput'.
The batteries are no longer available, either in UK or Holland so the bike - which is otherwise in great condition - is effectively scrap !!!!!!

Do I try and refurbish the battery - has dead cells ??
Do I try and fit some alternative battery ?? Are they keyed to the bike ??
Do I strip the electrics and fit a conversion kit ??
Do I just scrap it ??

The Panasonic front wheel motor is fine.
It is ridiculous that a very good bike is for 'scrap' because there is no replacement battery available.

Any thoughts, advice or help ?
Cheers

10 years ago the bike cost 2.5k euros so not a cheap bike by far.
There are various drive brands available for the C7 though the Panny set up may be the least to use advanced comm's.
It depends on the battery to controller comms, does it use handshaking comm's or is it generic comm's.
Look at the battery to controller wiring , if it is only two wires then it is generic and one can use any battery of the correct voltage.
If you have more the two wires then it may be comm's or some other voltage detection so one possibly may be able to have it recelled.

Your first port of call is to check the battery to controller wiring then update your findings, some clear pics would also help of said wiring forvus to see.

Alternately one could replace the controller kit with a KT set up but it would depend on the motor connector used ( I think the C7 uses a junction enclosure on the rear of the front fork so wiring may be a simple connection affair within) one will hsave to open it up and look, though if it is a motor connector isn't the end or be all because if it isn't generic one can stiil use it and simply cut and splice the wiring from the controller end to connect to a new controller.
So in a nut shell you possibly have two or three options albeit maybe with some soldering of wires to carry out.
It hedges on what you find /have wiring wise battery & motor and some nice clear pics for us to help you come to a decision.

Battery wise if it is generic type one will likely find any replacement wouldn't fit the carrier so one would either opt for a recell to keep battery and rack authentic or for a replacement battery one would have to change the rear rack/carrier .
It is a nice bike so if possible a recell would be #1.
If comms are used then one would simply buy a new battery with rack and a controller kit to retro fit.
Cost wise if one has to replace battery and kit then a nice battery with rack would be circa £200 - £300 and a KT controller kit £70 - £90.
If one can get away with just a battery recell them cost would likely be £300 - £350 with better branded cells used.
