Oxygen v Ophelia!

I rode home today in some very blustery conditions. Although we aren't bearing the brunt of Ophelia here in Warwickshire, there were a couple of more open stretches that really buffeted me around. I think my bulk (85Kg) and the weight of my Oxygen eMate actually helped keep me in a straightish line. I made sure I took the more direct 8-mile way home rather than my usual 11-mile pootle.

Did anyone else venture out in the wind? How did you get on? Were you further west than I was?

Tomorrow looks to be breezy but bright, so I'll risk it.

Yes...very windy homeward tonight on my oxygen, but battered my way through it. 18 mike trip took about 10 minutes longer than usual from Manchester to Warrington.
Haven’t really got a shortcut. Although the wind was very strong and gusty, I felt well in control. Side winds were the worst....

I rarely use anything other than Eco mode, but it was set to Power on the way home today. I was riding into the wind homewards, but yes, the worst of it was a stretch where the wind came sweeping over some bare fields and blew me slightly off kilter.

It has been very windy here in South Wales but has now died down.
People died in Ireland, thoughts for their families.
Nature can be so cruel.

My 10mile commute home was into 45mph head/cross winds buffeting me about, all good fun. Good job I was on my bike with the Bafang CST which just ploughed right through it but my controller was red hot and my 4 year old battery was struggling a bit.
I've got it again in the morning and probably lots of branches and debris to avoid too.

This is precisely the reason why I have gone for an ebike. I use a road bike to commute to work currently. In the decent weather it's great, but once it gets to this time of year I tend to get fed up with the bad weather (particularly head winds) on the way home after a 10 hour day. For this reason, I'm hoping that an ebike is the answer. I still want to keep my fitness levels up, but not to the point of dreading the commute every day there is a bit of a breeze going! :)

Yep, all the kitesurfers were out round my way on South coast...... Very windy !

Annoyingly was against me both in and out of work !

My record was my old steel hybrid with a BPM front hub and storm Imogen

I hit 38mph on the flat. Had to turn the electrics off as it was counter productive. The motor doesn't go anything like that fast even with no load applied so it was acting as a brake
