I might be able to help you out, but you might need more than the controller. Can you describe the fault please?

Hi Davie there is a part burnt out in it I think its a resistor is hard to tell as the controller is potted I think that's the right terminology.
I am hoping to keep the bike as standard as it goes very well.

There's a few different ones with slightly different connectors. How many pins has your display connector got, and does it have holes or pins? I mean the connector that's on the display side.

All mine have nine pins counting the middle one, so yours must be the new type.

It looks like the wires to your lights shorted out.

You can get a new controller from The South Yorkshire Electric Bike Centre, who are the new stockist for spares. They'll be at the Bristol show on Sunday, so if you go, you could phone them now and get them to bring one down. Make sure that you get one with the right pin configuration. It's only the display connector that's different. There's 8 pin, 9 pin and they swapped the gender as well at one point.

Thanks for that I they are a bit far away from me I stay in Scotland you should remember me as I bought the rear wheel motor from you (it was not for this bike)

Ah yes, got you now. I've got a memory like a sieve. I can remember technical things, but never names and faces. Looks like you'll need to get them to send you one then. Check your light s on a 36v battery before connecting to your new controller in case the short is in the light. You need to check the wires too. The power to the lights is activated by the display, which switches a transistor in the controller, which then opens up a gate to the battery, Any short circuit when the lights are on sends massive current through that transistor and down the tracks on the PCB that join the wires, so they burn out completely.. I've got a feeling that there might be some other links to the display, which could blow it. These Ananda controllers are to me a bit weird. Problems with the lights can do all sorts of michief, and those lights are not very reliable, it seems. It could be that you need a new controller, display and throttle, in which case it could be a good chance to upgrade to a new system, like a S06S sinewave controller with LCD3 display. You can then solder the shunt for a bit more torque.

It might be easier to chuck all the electrical stuff and get a new system. At the lower end, a KU65 with LED panel will set you back about £39, and at the other end of the scale, a So6S with everything is about £60 including delivery. The onlu tricky thing is the brakes. You'd have to cut and join the wires. because of the sealed connectors.

what the best way for connecting the new controller to the rear wheel for easy wheel removal.
I am going away on holiday tomorrow for a week so when I get back I will order up the parts.
Cheers Davie

I believe that your present motor connector is under the bottom bracket. I think I'd leave it there, You can cut the present connector off the controller as close as you can to the pcb, then solder it directly to the motor wires on the new one, so it'll be the same as you have now. You don't normally need to take the wheel away from the bike, so that should be OK. You only have to cut the last cable tie, which you'll have to do even if you move the connector nearer the motor. If you definitely want to take the wheel right away, then you cut a chunk out of the motor wire, solder the ends together and insulate them. Then you need one of these:

http://www.bmsbattery.com/accessory/439-9pin-waterproof-cable-female-connector-for-motor.html

or you could cut the connector off your old controller and join the cut-off piece of wire to it to run to tour controller. You don't need a connector at the controller end if you have one at the motor end.

I've just checked with Oxygen. There were supposed to be some spare controllers on the shipment last week, but the factory forgot to put them on. They'll now be on the next one in three weeks time if they don't forget again.

oxygen have my old controller they never told me that. They said the shipment was late it was meant to be in on the 8th of June and they could not guarantee that it would be in that shipment.
With all this good weather I am missing my bike which I use to go to work.

So now you have to decide: Wait three weeks for a plug and play controller and pray that your display and throttle are OK, or get a DIY controller that will involve some soldering and wiring, after which you will be master of your own destiny. It'll still take two weeks to arrive,

Did you find the short on your lights?
