Had a little accident last night. Nothing to do with cycling, had a bad landing at a bouldering wall. Quite painful. Suspect I may be able to gently cycle in a few weeks but not fully under my own steam.

I suspect 6 weeks to 3 months recovery and that really sucks. I really hope my ebike kit comes in stock soon so I can install and get out and about...it is an avulsuion fracture where the ligament has torn a section of bone from the main bone mass. It hurts a little bit.

Guess which foot, left or right? It is slowly turning purple...

Right foot. I hope it heals well and doesn't take too long.

Fingers crossed you get your kit soon.

Was the 'X' to stop the doc cutting off the wrong foot?
Asking for friend.
Yours, Igor.
Ha, that's exactly what I have been telling people

Boringly the paramedic put it there as a point to test for pulse in my foot so others could quickly find the best spot - but that answer isn't as much fun.

The swelling has gotten much worse today and spread up calf muscle. I am really annoyed with myself...my caving, climbing and walking are really important to me and really important from a mental health perspective as I have a bad anxiety disorder. My main worry is managing anxiety whilst my foot heals - and work is super stressful at the moment.

On the ebike front I see the kits are now pushed back to October. I certainly can't cycle anywhere at the moment but in a couple of weeks I hope to be able to cycle very gently on the flat. Just not much flat here, still quite flat to the pub. Given how important it is for me to get some exercise, both mentally and physically (gentle cycling is recommended as a good exercise when recovering from a broken ankle), I may just bite the bullet and buy a ready made bike. I can't afford to wait until October or perhaps later.

Well, I did about 11.5 miles today. A few hills but nothing big. Was cycling very slowly. Quite uncomfortable with saddle much lower so can put feet flat on ground if needing to stop. Also cycling a bit further out from edge than usual whilst getting used to cycling with injury - wanting to avoid too many potholes.

The actual cycling was ok and my ankle was fine. Some of the other road users were complete *****. I think I noticed it more being a bit more vulnerable and travelling slower. Also, going up hill was particularly slow and slow means a bit more wobbly than I am used to, especially with low saddle. People are far less inclined to wait longer for safer place to overtake so squash past going into bends rather than wait for cyclist to pass through the bend. On the other hand, others were very patient (and got a friendly wave). I probably will be getting a camera for my bike I think - not a fan of cameras and would only bother reporting the worst of the numpties but there are some very ignorant drivers out there.
