The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it... I can resist everything but temptation.
I took my Delite to OnBike in Worcester for a looking at. I had a sticking brake piston I was reluctant to play with and thought Martin was more qualified.
The Intuit display has had its moments and needed a replacement. Coincidently it had completely failed just before I arrived home the day before my trip to Worcester.
These small things were quickly dealt with while I had a ride on a Haibike XDuro All MTN Pro. I was much taken with it; I want a bike for when the weather turns conditions under wheel a little slippy. The Delite does not care for mud, the super Marathon Deluxe tyres cope well with everything else no problem and the mudguards, being close to the tyre can become coagulated with mud or the residue from the woodland leaves that also becomes a nuisance.
My intentions were to have a cheaper bike for the less use it would probably get as I really like the Delite, but then one does get tempted. Hence the Oscar Wild quote.
So that was dealt with. Friend Lynn came with me just for a ride out and I persuaded her to try an electric folder. We do the trails that we have locally, old railway tracks and the like. Me on the Birdy and I put her AVE on the rear rack. She always thought a folder would make life easier, especially when I pull a muscle lifting her bike on the rack.
The same quote came into play so we returned with two bikes inside and the Delite on the rack. The rack is special to the Prius so it's always deep in the boot and so available for the unexpected purchase. M5 & M6 back to home without incident as they were all well strapped down with the bungee things.
The XDuro has the Nyon display and that took a while to sort out. They think everyone has a smart phone, I don't want one. But it can be set up via Wi-Fi, easy except I can't get a signal by the garage or carport. A light bulb moment came to me, move the router get a phone extension and voila it's done. Except when I finally find the lead it has the old type connections and so was of no use.
So plan B, wait till 'She Who Commands' goes for a lie-down and bring the bike into the house. I managed that without detection and so got it set-up.
The sat-nav works without a mobile and I uploaded the ride onto the Ebike Connect web site and it seemed to be OK, so far.
When the rain stopped I had to go for a spin, only managed to do 13 miles as darkness was approaching but it has a lot more go in it than the Delite, got up the hills like being rocket propelled. Can't wait for tomorrow when it's going to be dry and sunny, so a proper review of the bike when I have put some miles on it.
