Has anyone had any experience of the Orus E-8200 (Quick Rider E7) model? I'm looking to buy my first pedelec, and only have around £1000 to spend, via a cycle at work voucher. I liked the look of the Riverside 500, but it's out of stock for the large frame version. I've been put off the Carrera by the dodgy cut-out reviews! Oh, and I really liked the look of some of the Whoosh bikes, but they advised that they don't accept my particular brand of cycle at work vouchers :-(

You need to check the gearing. The listing says Shinano 6 speed, but that doesn't make sense. Acera is a free-hub system, but 6 speed would normally be a freewheel system, which is what you get on the cheaper ebikes. The problem is that 6 speed freewheels normally have 14 teeth top gear, which is too low for an ebike, depending on the size of the front chainwheel. The chainwheel on that bike looks pretty small. You need to clarify with the vendor, what gear cluster is on the back wheel. Apart from that, its normal Chinese stuff that you find on similar priced bikes, so easy to repair and plenty of parts available - generally quite reliable. Apart from the gearing, which might be OK or not, it looks like a reasonable bike for the money.

E-bikesdirect are generally a good company to deal with and they have a nice warranty returns service should anything go wrong - as long as you keep the box!

Have a look at Kudos bikes as the line up is quite good.

Thanks. I'm looking at the Juicy City Plus, but the spec details are quite limited on the site. Or the Kudos Rapide. Any thoughts?
