8Fun 28"/700C Ebike Electric Bike Conversion Kit 36V 250W - 8F28F36B | eBay

This kit caught my attention because it says in the item description: "Comes with brake sensors instead of brake levers"

Interesting, because as you may know I am considering converting my bike which has combined shifters/brake levers.

I think I would prefer to go with a more mainstream supplier, like Alienocean or Juicy or Cyclezee etc. but all of these want me to replace my flipping brake levers!

The listing also says: "Latest 8Fun 36V 250W intelligent brushless Front wheel motor-QSWXK, without Hall Sensor so more reliable"

What is a Hall Sensor please?

I had the earlier kit from them. It's a good kit and has all the standard Chinese stuff that nearly all the sub £1000 ready-made ebikes have. For you the brake switches are an advantage. The kit is plug-and-play connector-wise, but you get the normal problems of trying to get things in the right place. For a front-wheel kit, you'll need a Disk brake of at least 180mm.

I think that with those integrated levers, you'll also have trouble with the throttle because the larger diameter (than the handlebars) doesn't allow the shifters to pass. You'll have this problem with any kit. Have a look at the thread about fitting a throttle to a Wisper.

The battery has Panasonic cells, but it doesn't say which ones. I opened up my Panasonic battery and it had 40 cgr18650cg cells, which are 2250maH each, so that makes a 9aH battery, but when I looked up the specification for the cells from Panasonic, it said max discharge 0.7C which is 1.5amps per cell, or 6amps for the whole battery. No wonder it's a bit weak!. The controller is set to 14amps, which the battery can give, but it sags a lot if I try and maintain that. It's possible that they have a higher rated cell now, but can't be sure until someone opens one up.

Here's how I set mine up: I have the 8fun kit, as in your other thread.

Handlebar1.jpgHandlebar3.jpg

Originally fitted throttle on the right, but found the shifter a touch far from the natural reach of my finger & thumb: On the left side, it only affects the front shifter & I don't use that one so much (Never use the granny ring on the road, anyway) & don't notice the slight reach anymore.

Hi Waspy,

You don't have to replace your combined brake and gear shift levers, but you will not be able to connect the brake lever cut outs with some modification.
